Vicor presents its MIL-COTS VI BrickTM filter
The integrated filter is an efficient (~95%) non-isolated regulator capable of boosting or stepping up a wide range of input voltages (16.5–50 VDC) and delivering up to 120 W of output power. Smaller than comparable products, it offers compliance with MIL-STD-1275A/B/D and MIL-STD-704A-F for transients and MIL-STD-461E/F
for EMI.
The standalone MIL-COTS VI Brick filter is a separate DC input module that provides EMI filtering and transient protection. The filter enables designers using Vicor's MIL-COTS VI BRICK and V·I Chip PRM to meet the conducted emissions/conducted susceptibility requirements of MIL-STD-461E/F, as well as the input transient requirements of MIL-STD-704A/E/F and MIL-STD-1275A/B/D. It accepts input voltages from 16.5–50 VDC and delivers up to 120 W of output power.
This integrated package, which is significantly smaller than competing products with similar power ratings (48.6 x 27.7 x 9.5 mm), provides design flexibility and meets stringent EMI and transient protection specifications.
The MIL-COTS VI BRICK Filter is specifically designed to provide a factored bus-controlled, distributed voltage to power VI BRICK VTM™ current multipliers, which are fast, efficient, isolated, and low-noise point-of-load (POL) converters. The VI BRICK PRM and VTM together form a complete DC/DC conversion subsystem that offers all the unique advantages of Vicor's Factored Power Architecture (FPA). These advantages include high density and efficiency, low-noise operation, architectural flexibility, extremely fast transient response, and the elimination of bulky point-of-load capacity.
The primary applications for the new VI BRICK Filter are military ground vehicles and aircraft systems. Examples of ground vehicle applications include communication systems, targeting systems, flat-panel displays, RF interference suppression, and GPS mobile tracking.
The standard lead time for the MIL-COTS VI BRICK Filter is from stock to four weeks.
