The OMRON B5W-DB sensor stands out for its reduced sensitivity to light disturbances, making it less susceptible to ambient light, such as sunlight. The sensor can be mounted in any of the four directions and has an extremely low current consumption of only 20mA.
This new diffuse reflection sensor opens up new applications in restroom facilities, sterilization equipment, and access control systems. Contactless sensors reduce the risk of infection, thus protecting against COVID-19 and providing safety for users of restrooms and other public spaces. They can also be used to activate security and door control systems, as well as to operate sterilization equipment and reduce the risk of contagion.
OMRON B5W sensors are particularly effective at identifying black, transparent, reflective, and generally difficult-to-detect surfaces, and the new range also improves performance in this area.
In addition to the B5W-DB, the miniature sensors B5W-LB2101 and LB2112 are still available with analog or digital outputs and a detection range of 10–55 mm for white paper, which is reduced to 10–40 mm for black paper. These devices measure 40 x 8.4 x 15.9 mm. For applications requiring an even more compact solution, the superminiature B5W-LB1112 measures only 26 x 8.4 x 13 mm. It offers a detection range of 2–10 mm for white paper and 3–8 mm for black paper. All digital devices are available in versions with active output (with and without light) and with an IP50 rating.
