This industry-leading solution* has achieved EN 18052:2025 certification following evaluation by cetecom advanced GmbH, a leading organization in electronic equipment certification. Thanks to its widespread adoption by certification testing centers and automotive manufacturers, this industry-leading solution has demonstrated a high level of reliability.
Hybrid eCall certification testing uses complex test setups due to the need for switching communication systems and multi-stage test sequences. As a result, traditional testing is cumbersome and relies on operator experience, placing a significant burden during development and certification. In this context, customers using Anritsu's measurement solution without automation were insistently requesting test automation that would enable error-free and repeatable execution and help shorten development cycles.
To meet their needs, Anritsu has developed this new one-button test automation system for complex, standards-compliant testing, significantly reducing testing times. Furthermore, even novice operators can reliably and repeatedly perform tests under identical conditions to achieve consistent test quality. By improving overall operational efficiency, this solution supports all stages of onboard system development, through to verification and certification.
Background of Hybrid eCall:
The eCall on-board emergency call system automatically requests assistance following a traffic accident. When the vehicle's on-board sensor detects a collision, the on-board system (IVS) automatically sends the vehicle's location and information to a Public Safety Response Center (PSAP), enabling operators to promptly dispatch rescue assistance based on the received data.
Conventional eCall systems use 2G/3G networks, but in recent years, the use of next-generation eCall (NG eCall), which utilizes 4G networks, has become more widespread. NG eCall allows for faster and more stable communications, enabling advanced features such as the transmission of images from the accident scene.
The European Union has made NG eCall mandatory from 1 January 2026, requiring car manufacturers to comply.
However, conventional eCall remains necessary in regions where 4G networks are not fully available. As a result, hybrid eCall, which switches between NG eCall and conventional eCall depending on network availability, has attracted increasing attention. By supporting hybrid eCall, automakers can ensure reliable emergency call services regardless of the region.
