The SSG3000X Plus series offers frequency ranges from 9 kHz up to 2.1 GHz or 3.2 GHz, with a frequency adjustment resolution of 0.01 Hz. Typical phase noise is -117 dBc/Hz with a 1 GHz carrier and a 20 kHz offset, enabling clean and accurate RF signal generation for development, training, and production applications.
Output levels start at -110 dBm, with a specified throughput up to +13 dBm and a configurable maximum output level of +20 dBm. Typical level accuracy is ≤0.7 dB, allowing for applications requiring stable and repeatable control of the signal applied to the device under test.
In addition to continuous wave (CW) generation, the SSG3000X Plus series supports integrated AM, FM, and phase modulation via internal, external, or combined modulation sources. It also offers pulse modulation with an on/off ratio of ≥68 dBc, and an optional pulse train generator expands the platform for pulsed RF experiments and more advanced test setups.
For applications requiring modulated RF signals, the SSG3000X-IQE Plus models offer external IQ modulation. When used with a suitable baseband IQ source, such as a SIGLENT SDG6000X series generator, they can typically generate IQ-modulated signals with RF bandwidths up to 200 MHz. This configuration also supports applications such as generating two-tone signals for third-order interception (TOI) testing.
The "Plus" generation also introduces features designed to simplify practical RF measurement workflows. USB power sensors can be integrated for power measurement and output control, allowing the generator to adjust its output based on the power measured at the device under test (DUT). This can be particularly useful when cables, components, or other elements in the signal path introduce losses between the generator and the DUT.
A 5-inch capacitive touchscreen provides users with direct access to the instrument's functions, while keyboard and mouse compatibility offers additional operating options. Remote access via web browser allows control from computers and mobile devices without the need for specific software. USB and LAN interfaces are standard, while GPIB and a more accurate OCXO frequency reference are available as options.
Thanks to these capabilities, the SSG3000X Plus series supports a wide range of general-purpose RF applications, from introductory RF training and work to component characterization, development, troubleshooting, and manufacturing testing.
The launch of the SSG3000X Plus series marks SIGLENT's transition from the existing SSG3000X platform to a new generation of entry-level RF signal generators. The series has been developed to provide RF measurement engineers with access to a signal source with performance and capabilities suitable for everyday practical use.
The SSG3000X Plus series offers a starting point for users who need essential RF signal generation capabilities with room for learning, experimentation, and growth.
