Signal purity is paramount in a wide range of measurement applications, from radar testing to the testing of A/D (ADC) and D/A (DAC) converters. The Rubidium signal generator delivers exceptionally low single-sideband (SSB) phase noise of -136 dBc/Hz (typical) and -140 dBc/Hz (measured) at 10 GHz with a 10 kHz offset, unmatched in the market. Combined with best-in-class harmonic and spurious response, the Rubidium signal generator enables customers to take more accurate measurements.
Rubidium offers an order of magnitude better frequency stability than other signal generators that use an OCXO-based reference. This exceptional frequency stability is achieved by using an optional internal Rubidium reference or by setting the signal generator's time base to a 1 PPS reference from an optional internal GNSS/GPS atomic clock receiver.
The Rubidium signal generator incorporates field level and frequency calibration, easily accessible with the touch of a button on the graphical user interface. This feature guarantees the customer the accuracy of the desired frequency, saves time, increases convenience, and improves instrument availability.
An Anritsu USB CW power sensor is required for field level calibration, which also requires an internal GNSS/GPS atomic clock receiver or an optional, ultra-stable rubidium time base.
Rubidium's AM, FM/PM, and pulse modulation capabilities provide a wide variety of complex analog modulated signals. An internal low-frequency generator can produce seven different waveform types to modulate the carrier. Furthermore, simultaneous AM/FM, AM/PM, or FM/Pulse modulation allows for the generation of complex modulation waveforms known as "chirps." Powerful signal simulation capabilities are incorporated into the pulse radar signal generator.
The Rubidium has a 3U chassis with a 7-inch touchscreen on the front panel and a traditional keyboard or rotary dial interface. A wide range of options are available to achieve an optimal balance between cost/function and measurement flexibility.
The Rubidium signal generator can be used in a wide range of applications. It is ideal for applications requiring low phase noise, such as testing radar subsystems, boost/buck converters, or high-speed ADCs/DACs. The signal generator is well-suited for taking nonlinear measurements without additional filters due to its exceptional response to low harmonics, subharmonics, and nonharmonics at standard and high output power levels. It can be used in various interference measurements as a signal source for testing devices and systems, and as a frequency reference in calibration and metrology laboratories.
