The system is ideal for recording temperatures in food safety, life sciences, and for monitoring medical and pharmaceutical products.

The DS1925 Maxim iButton temperature logger, available from Mouser Electronics, offers monitoring sessions compared to other data logging products, while maintaining a consistent sampling rate. Designers can store a total of 122 KB of 8-bit readings, or 61 KB of 16-bit readings taken at equal intervals ranging from 5 minutes to 273 hours. In addition, the DS1925 provides 512 bytes of non-volatile memory for storing application-specific information.

The DS1925 is configured and communicates with a host computer device via the serial 1-Wire protocol, which requires only a single data connection and a ground return. Designers can program the device to begin collecting data immediately, after a delay, or after a temperature alarm. The DS1925 offers high accuracy (±0.5 degrees Celsius) over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The device can measure battery charge and retains measurements even if the battery life ends before the logger is replaced. Each DS1925 has a unique 64-bit registration number laser-etched onto it, enabling absolute traceability. Housed in a 17.35 mm x 5.89 mm stainless steel enclosure, it is highly resistant to environmental hazards such as dirt, moisture, and shock.

The DS1925EVKIT Thermochron iButton Starter Kit, also available from Mouser, includes the basic hardware for quick evaluation of the included iButton device. The easy installation process includes free downloadable 1-Wire drivers and the OneWireViewer demo software for easy communication with the iButton device via a computer's USB port.
