These new measurements include the Stroboscopic Visibility Measure (SVM) developed at Philips Research, which determines the probability of a stroboscopic effect. GL Optic plays an active role in the Philips working group focused on Temporal Light Artifacts (TLA). GL Optic is pleased to announce that it is one of the first manufacturers of light measurement devices to implement this new flicker metric in the GL Spectis 1.0 T Flicker spectrometer.
Flicker is an age-old phenomenon that requires renewed consideration in the LED lighting era. The industry has made significant progress in quantifying and measuring flicker. Existing flicker metrics—flicker frequency, flicker index, and flicker percentage—are used to describe basic flicker parameters. GL Optic is now one of the first manufacturers of measuring devices to implement the new SVM (Stroboscopic Visibility Measurement) flicker metrics in the GL Spectis 1.0 T Flicker.
