The U8903B includes the Objective Perceived Listening Quality Assessment (POLQA) defined by the ITU-T standard and its predecessor, the Perceived Speech Quality Assessment (PESQ), which allow measurements to be taken in the common audio bandwidth used by telephone networks. With POLQA, superwideband voice signals up to 14,000 Hz can be measured. Equipped with POLQA and PESQ, the U8903B is ideal for testing 3G, 4G/LTE, and VoIP network and telephone equipment, as well as high-definition voice testing applications.
For component and IC testing, the U8903B is equipped with a wide bandwidth option that extends the upper limit of the measurement bandwidth to 1.5 MHz with 24-bit resolution and a one-million-point Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). This extended bandwidth allows the audio analyzer to maintain high accuracy, even when monitoring Class D amplifiers or power supplies, which typically produce signal peaks that far exceed the bandwidth limit of conventional audio analyzers (100 kHz or less). The U8903B also offers AES3/SPDIF and DSI formats for testing and validating consumer electronics and digital audio ICs.
The U8903B gives test engineers the option of two, four, or eight channels, and enables precise distortion measurements with improved residual THD+N of less than -110 dB—performance available across all eight channels. The test sequence control feature automates testing, allowing users to configure measurement types and define acceptance and failure criteria for each test parameter. This new feature saves time and eliminates the need to write complex code during product development.
“The U8903B is accurate and configurable, and incorporates numerous features,” explains Ee Huei Sin, Vice President of Keysight’s General Purpose Electronic Measurement Division. “With this audio analyzer, Keysight is once again offering engineers and technicians a high-performance tool.”.
