The Phoenix circuit set consists of three chips, each named after a star in the Phoenix constellation. The analog input stage chip (called Beta Phoenix) provides up to 4 GHz of input bandwidth and integrates all the functions required by the analog modules of a digital oscilloscope, including a 1MΩ channel input attenuator for fast and truly silent switching thanks to the chip's unique design. It requires only a few external components to form the oscilloscope's analog input stage channels—a system design that demonstrates that "simple is wonderful" and greatly improves the consistency and reliability of the digital oscilloscope.
In addition to the analog input stage chip, RIGOL also offers the signal processing chip (named Ankaa), which achieves a data acquisition rate of 10 GSa/s, and the probe amplifier chip (named Gamma Phoenicis), compatible with differential probes up to 6 GHz. The ASICs are based entirely on RIGOL's proprietary intellectual property and have been developed entirely in-house.
“Over the past 19 years, RIGOL has proven to be an innovator in the entry-level and value segments of the oscilloscope market,” says Rico Wang, President of RIGOL Technologies, “but with the introduction of this new circuit set, developed over years of hard R&D work, RIGOL is now in a position to bring the RIGOL value proposition to higher-performance applications.”.

ultravisionii rigolThe Phoenix circuit kit enables RIGOL to revolutionize its oscilloscope performance with the new UltraVision II architecture. These enhancements will be leveraged in products with significantly higher waveform capture speeds, new filtering and triggering capabilities, and unprecedented memory and search capacity. When combined with the Phoenix circuit kit's capabilities, UltraVision II will transform the customer value proposition in the 1-4 GHz oscilloscope market.
During the circuit kit launch in Suzhou, China, RIGOL demonstrated its prototype oscilloscope utilizing Phoenix and UltraVision II. With a 4 GHz bandwidth, a real-time sampling rate of 20 GSa/s, and a memory capacity of 1 billion points, it proves that a new player will soon enter the high-performance oscilloscope market.

RIGOL is excited to introduce products using the new Phoenix circuit set, which will bring RIGOL's unmatched value proposition—with its excellent price-performance ratio—to a new class of customers who require performance and support for advanced instrument applications. RIGOL will formally announce the first products using the Phoenix circuit set before the end of 2017, and the first customer deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of 2017.
