The new MSO6 series also increases user confidence in measurements thanks to its low-noise inputs, especially at the most sensitive settings where it matters most. For example, modern embedded designs require clean, precisely controlled DC power supplies to power ASICs and FPGAs. For such applications, the MSO6 series allows designers to measure DC power rails with greater resolution and accuracy, reducing the time it takes to understand the influence of high frequency on the design's power rails.
The MSO6 series features a number of innovations, including: an intuitive user interface, a 15.6-inch capacitive touchscreen that handles like a mobile phone, innovative FlexChannel® inputs, a 12-bit ADC that can deliver up to 16 bits of vertical resolution, a completely new industrial design, and the optional Windows 10 operating system.
New levels of signal detail.
To meet the need for greater understanding of the fastest signals, the MSO6 series incorporates a new low-noise preamplifier ASIC, the TEK061, which reduces noise, especially in signals with peak-to-peak voltages in the hundreds of millivolts. Thanks to a sampling rate of 25 GS/s across four channels, the instrument offers 16-bit resolution at 200 MHz when using high-resolution mode. This means that designers can not only see interfering signals on their feed rail, but can also measure them with a level of accuracy previously unattainable with an oscilloscope.
Like the MSO5 series, the MSO6 series is upgradeable and available with a built-in function/arbitrary function generator, a free DVM and trigger frequency counter upon registration on the Tektronix website, protocol analysis options, and an alternative operating system choice. Also like the MSO5 series, adding a TLP058 logic probe converts any of the instrument's four FlexChannel inputs into eight digital inputs, providing the most flexible MSO6 configurations available. The MSO6 series also features upgradeable bandwidth, starting at 1 GHz and expanding to 8 GHz with a simple license upgrade.
Since the launch of the MSO5 series, Tektronix has added the following capabilities, which will be available on both platforms:
• Options for decoding and triggering support for the following buses: CAN FD, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC429, and SENT
• Options for serial bus compliance testing: Automotive Ethernet and USB 2.0
• An advanced power analysis option with two rounds of free upgrades
• New free capabilities: FastFrame segmented memory and improved autoset
• In conjunction with the launch of the MSO6 series, Tektronix has also released: visual triggering capability and a new option to trigger, decode, and search the SPMI serial bus, a MIPI power management bus
New High-Performance Probe Options:
The TDP7700 family is a series of TriMode™ probes with bandwidths of 4, 6, or 8 GHz. TriMode probes enable engineers to perform the single-terminate, differential, and common-mode signal measurements required for high-speed bus analysis without moving or changing probes. These probes utilize TekFlex™ connector technology, which places active buffers at the probe tip for optimal signal fidelity while limiting mechanical stress on small test points. They also support a variety of connectivity methods for the device under test, including solder tips, direct connection, and handheld scanning.
In addition, the TAP4000 and TDP4000 probes extend the range of Tektronix's popular active, single-terminate, and differential probes, respectively, and now support bandwidths up to 4 GHz.
