This design complements Arrow and Infineon's existing portfolio of joint reference design solutions and supports the ongoing migration of customer designs to USB-C technology. REF_ARIF240GaN is specifically designed to support the launch of EZ-PD™ PMG1-B2, Infineon's latest USB PD 3.2 controller, which offers up to 240W of USB power dissipation capacity and integrated buck-boost functionality in a single compact package.
It provides developers with a ready-to-use platform for implementing high-power USB-C charging, along with efficient motor drive control functions. It offers fast-charging capabilities for 2- to 12-cell lithium-ion batteries, simplifying the overall design and reducing the number of components.
The Infineon EZ-PD™ PMG1-B2 USB controller has recently been released
The motor control functionality is based on PSOC C3 , a 180 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 microcontroller, and high-efficiency 100 V CoolGaN G5 transistors. By combining a fully interoperable USB-C PD stack with a high-performance sensor-enabled and sensorless GaN motor controller on a single platform, the reference design enables the creation of compact, high-efficiency battery-powered systems, while reducing development time, material costs, and footprint.
Target applications include light electric vehicles (e-bikes, e-scooters, and personal mobility devices), along with power tools, vacuum cleaners, kitchen appliances, gardening equipment, and robotics. Reference designs are available upon request. Arrow's Engineering Solutions Center (ESC) offers advanced technical support and customization services.
