In most linear power supplies, voltage and current limits are entered using rotary knobs. I was looking for faster and higher precision, so I wanted to design a lab power supply for my bench where the voltage and current limits were entered via a keypad. I added a microcontroller to handle the keypad input functions, but I wanted the basic power supply to be linear: no switching and less noise.
