NUB3D supplies 3D white light sensor scanning technologies using digital scanners to optimize inspection and quality assurance in manufacturing. These sensors can detect defects in manufactured components with a very high level of accuracy.
The combination will allow ABB to create complete, turnkey, automated inspection and quality control systems for automotive equipment manufacturers, aerospace companies, and customers in other sectors such as the metal and plastics industries.
NUB3D will become part of the Robotics business unit within ABB's Robotics and Motion division and ABB's new global 3D metrology applications center.
NUB3D's 3D sensor technology quickly records and compares highly detailed geometric and surface data with digital CAD models, enabling the automation of inspection of manufactured parts and components, resulting in reduced manufacturing cycles while increasing quality and decreasing the risk of errors in quality control.
ABB and NUB3D have already introduced two cutting-edge solutions for fully robotic, automated quality inspection, for both online and offline inspection using NUB3D's 3D white light sensors. These innovations are being offered to the market under the names FlexInspect and InspectPack.
