According to the signed agreement, SECO has been designated a partner of Qualcomm Technologies' IIoT design center and, as such, will develop certain reference designs for off-the-shelf hardware solutions primarily dedicated to OEM customers.

Specifically, the collaboration focuses on the creation of a system-on-a-module (SOM) and a modular single-board computer (SBC). Both products will be available within SECO's standard edge computing solutions portfolio.

Qualcomm Technologies will support SECO in developing these products to accelerate their commercialization. In this context, Qualcomm Technologies will also provide technical support, facilitating the integration of its components into SECO's new products.

In addition, Qualcomm Technologies will offer customized designs for customers adopting its chipsets, better meeting the specific needs of businesses in their respective vertical markets. This design flexibility represents added value for companies looking to optimize the performance and potential of their devices by implementing IIoT applications.

With the aim of providing a comprehensive, end-to-end service for the creation of AI-powered devices, SECO will also be able to help users of these solutions quickly connect to CLEA—the internally developed IoT platform—enabling its functionalities, including machine learning and artificial intelligence applications, on machines built for end users.

“Technological advancements in connectivity, computing, AI on devices, and cloud services are driving the digital transformation of industries, and we are delighted to work with SECO as our design partner to simplify and scale the use of Qualcomm’s IoT technology in Europe,” said Roberto Di Pietro, Vice President of Business Development at Qualcomm Europe, Inc. “The combination of our technological leadership and SECO’s hardware development expertise will help OEM customers bring IoT products to market faster and address new use cases for edge computing and AI.”

“We are especially proud to receive recognition of our technological capabilities from one of the leading global players. The agreement with Qualcomm Technologies represents an extraordinary opportunity for SECO to further increase its visibility and market penetration. Thanks to this collaboration, we will be able to offer increasingly cutting-edge hardware solutions and make them available to our customers, truly accelerating their digital evolution,” stated Massimo Mauri, CEO of SECO.
