Comprised of more than 423,000 members worldwide, including 55,000 in Europe, the IEEE offers a global perspective and a professional base comprised of leading authorities on the technologies that are changing the world, from computing, communications, and sustainable energy systems to the Internet of Things, blockchain, biomedical engineering, and much more. The IEEE inspires the global community to solve the challenges shared by industry and society by harnessing technology to address major global issues. It nurtures, develops, and advances technologies worldwide by setting standards, supporting the development of innovations, producing widely cited publications, organizing major conferences, and offering a wide range of professional and educational programs.
The IEEE plans to expand through a series of strategic initiatives, including the European Public Policy Initiative, which aims to foster dialogue between the European technology community and European policymakers and regulators through working groups comprised of experts in fields such as energy and information and communications technology (ICT). The European Public Policy Initiative's activities include developing policy position papers and organizing policy-related events.
Among the current activities of the European Technology Centre, one can mention participation in the European Multilateral Platform on ICT Standardization and in the European Innovation Summit.
