As digitalization continues to accelerate the growth of Sweden's digital infrastructure, the demand for stable, reliable, and sustainable energy sources has skyrocketed. Recognizing this need, Vertiv, Conapto, and Fever Energy have joined forces to offer data centers the opportunity to play an active role in stabilizing the power grid while accessing new revenue streams.
Through the innovative Dynamic Grid Support feature of its UPS systems, Conapto can actively contribute to grid stability by enabling fast frequency response (FFR) and frequency containment reserve demand (FCR-D). Vertiv's solution optimizes UPS capacity and utilizes lithium-ion battery storage, facilitating power supply during peak demand without requiring significant infrastructure changes. By providing static and dynamic frequency regulation, along with demand management capabilities, the UPS systems contribute to grid stability and efficient resource utilization, supporting the integration of alternative energy sources, such as wind, hydro, and solar, into the energy ecosystem.
Conapto has selected the Vertiv™ Liebert® EXL S1 UPS for its ability to reduce power consumption compared to less efficient alternatives. This innovative solution, which includes lithium-ion batteries, provides high capacity in a very compact space, allowing data centers to maximize the number of racks and servers, while also facilitating operational efficiency of up to 99%.
The joint initiative will be divided into two main phases. First, Conapto's existing facilities, acquired in 2022, are being optimized for network support using user-specific UPS systems that will be seamlessly integrated into the system. Second, this same solution is currently being implemented at Conapto's Stockholm 4 South location, enhancing network resilience and support capacity.
