It is a digital transaction record whose information is immutable, making the system itself the "arbiter" of the process and facilitating relationships within the chain of intermediaries. It is a technology that therefore offers accuracy, security, and transparency while simultaneously accelerating business transactions.

In this context, the TECNALIA research and development center has created the first industrial Blockchain laboratory, a pioneering facility in Europe where companies can experiment with their challenges and needs, view demonstrations and real-world success stories, and test technological solutions and business models related to this technology. Thus, this laboratory will test everything from electronic voting and participation platforms to traceability systems for the energy, manufacturing, and automotive sectors. Finally, these technological solutions will be implemented and rolled out within the business sector.

This industrial laboratory, located at TECNALIA's facilities in the Bizkaia Technology Park, will allow experimentation in three main areas: Industry 4.0, socio-economics and intellectual property protection, and will do so through pilot experiences that allow analysis of the impact and possibilities of Blockchain in each of them.

One of their first success stories is the startup Edemocracity, whose objective is to facilitate legally valid electronic voting that ensures anonymity in citizen participation processes, in companies and, in the future, voting processes, on blockchain.

TECNALIA is one of the international benchmarks for Blockchain and is part of the EEA, The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, a new international collaboration platform between organizations focused on this technology and which supports the definition of its standards.

Furthermore, it is a member of Hyperledger, the leading open-source Blockchain software community, which will allow it to establish international partnerships to address large-scale projects with significant social impact, as well as exchange knowledge and experience with other companies participating in the community.
