Specifically, the GRAPHOS project focuses its activity on the automotive, plastics, paints, inks and coatings, construction, textile, and electronics industries. This covers four of the eight major sectors where developments in graphene and carbon nanostructures are expected to have the greatest impact: energy, aerospace, automotive, biomedicine, coatings, composites, sensors, electronics, and defense.
The GRAPHOS consortium covers the value chain from the production and functionalization of graphene and carbon nanostructures, through the development of thermoplastic and thermoset matrices based on GRMs (Graphene and Related Materials), to the integration into a final product based on acrylics, polyester, polyurethane, polypropylenes, SBS, SAN and ABS.
Furthermore, the consortium relies on four renowned technology centers in the world of plastics, textiles and chemicals with extensive experience in working with nanomaterials and carbonaceous materials such as AIMPLAS, AITEX, CIDETEC and LEITAT, and on three highly prestigious Public Research Organizations in the research and characterization of nanomaterials, which will provide scientific and technical support to the companies participating in the R&D tasks: CSIC ICMM, CSIC IMM and UPC.
The project is financed through the CIEN program, co-financed with ERDF funds, with a budget of 7,200,022.00 euros and aid of 5,400,016.50 euros over a period of four years.
