The new generation of smart cards: active digital identification and dynamic data storage

Smart cards and logistics tags are becoming increasingly intelligent, offering features that go beyond simple identification. Until now, smart cards relied on external power sources, such as card readers, which limited crucial advanced functions. The following use cases for the BTRY 1S4P have been extensively tested, pending the availability of a suitable rechargeable power supply:
E-Ink Displays: Dynamic visual information can be updated directly on the card.

Biometric authentication – Fingerprint sensors for secure identification.
Integrated data storage – Smart cards can now store critical information, such as temperature logs, during shipping.
Location tracking – GPS-enabled smart cards for real-time logistics monitoring.
“The only thing holding back widespread adoption of this type of card-based solution is the battery.” – Charles Bourbonnais, CEO of Hive-Zox

The thinnest battery on the market,
the BTRY 1S4P, is thinner than existing battery packaging, making it the thinnest battery currently available. It is a fully solid-state secondary battery, primarily suited for reusable cards. Its dimensions and specifications were defined in close collaboration with manufacturers to perfectly match their needs, providing a powerful, ultra-thin power source that was previously unavailable.
BTRY 1S4P stands for 1 cell in series and 4 in parallel, and it will feature unprecedented specifications:
Thickness: Less than 0.1 mm (5 times thinner than any other battery);
Surface area: 4 x 5 cm²;
Capacity: Up to 50 mAh;
Operating reliability: -40 to +150 degrees Celsius;
Lifespan: >1000

The BTRY 1SP4 showcases the unique qualities of BTRY's patented technology as a slim, powerful, and reliable high-end battery. As manufacturers of innovative smart cards test the BTRY 1S4P, multiple BTRY prototypes in various formats are being evaluated in the medical technology and wearable consumer electronics sectors. Pilot production capabilities in Europe are being developed in parallel with customer adoption and the maturation of new applications. BTRY now invites early adopters to get in touch to collaborate and participate in proof-of-concept (PoC) projects to explore the full potential of BTRY in their applications.
