The XPAND battery pack will be offered in two versions: the 7.1 kWh XMP71P and the 11.4 kWh XMP114E. Both versions are easily scalable and can be used in EV applications from 7.1 kWh to 1.5 MWh of capacity across a wide range of voltages.
The new XPAND battery pack features a ceramic cell separator and other thermal containment technologies to prevent heat runaway. These and other advanced battery technologies allow the XPAND battery pack to achieve an IP67 safety rating, confirming that it is fully protected against dust and can be submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes. Furthermore, XPAND has been developed according to ISO 12405, ECE R100, J2929, and ISO 26262 standards and is UN38.3 certified.
The advanced liquid cooling system provides direct cooling to the front of the battery cells, maximizing volumetric efficiency and reducing the system's mass by up to 75% compared to air-cooled systems. These and other advanced battery technologies enable XPAND to achieve an energy density of up to 150 Wh/kg.
The XMP71P battery pack's 40Ah lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) cells offer a long lifespan with cycle life exceeding 6,000 cycles. XPAND's modular, plug-and-play design, with all external connections on the front panel, simplifies engineering XPAND into a wide variety of EV applications and facilitates battery maintenance after installation. XPAND's next-generation BMS features diagnostics, battery health estimation, and a flexible system architecture, providing more accurate state of charge (SOC) and state of health (SOH) data. This helps EV operators more precisely calculate how much longer they can use their EV before recharging. The battery system has been tested to meet the most stringent electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements of international marine and transportation customers in North America, Europe, and Asia.
