Corrosion in lead-acid batteries can lead to sudden and total failure. SPX batteries are corrosion-free. The cell containers, separators, and vents are made of polypropylene. The load-bearing components, such as the terminal screws and electrode structure, are made of steel. The electrolyte protects the components and acts as a medium for ion transfer. There is no risk of internal corrosion, and no toxic gases are formed inside.
The SPX battery is designed to offer a lifespan of over 20 years – depending on the specific application. This is approximately ten times the lifespan of an equivalent lead-acid battery. Furthermore, SPX batteries require very little maintenance.
