The Delta-Sigma ADC is an architecture well-suited for applications requiring high resolution and low noise, thus providing highly accurate measurements. This type of ADC consists of two main elements: the Delta-Sigma modulator and the digital decimation filter (see Figure 1). The Delta-Sigma modulator takes rapid samples of the input signal, accumulating quantization errors over time. The digital decimation filter then processes these samples to reduce the sampling rate and produce a reliable and accurate digital signal.

Advantages:
• High resolution: Using an oversampling technique, the Delta-Sigma ADC takes multiple samples of the signal over a period of time and then calculates the average. This allows for high resolution, ideal for applications demanding high accuracy.
• Low noise: The oversampling technique and subsequent digital filtering significantly reduce noise, improving the quality of the resulting signal.
• Error reduction: The Delta-Sigma modulator minimizes quantization errors through accumulation and averaging, generating a more precise and accurate output.
Mecter introduces the new 24-bit Delta-Sigma ADCs from Holtek, a leading manufacturer of integrated circuits with a wide range of product categories, including 8- and 32-bit microcontrollers and other peripherals. Since its founding in 1998, the company has been continuously committed to research, development, and technological innovation, aiming to provide the most competitive products and solutions for its customers.
The BH45B1225 and BH45B1525 models (see Figure 2) are 24-bit multichannel Delta-Sigma ADCs that include programmable gain amplification (PGA) functions and are designed for differential interfacing with analog signals. These devices are distinguished by their low noise and high accuracy, and their communication with external hardware via an I²C and/or SPI bus makes them ideal for battery-dependent applications, thanks to their low power consumption and advanced functional integration. Table 1 presents a summary of the specifications for both models.
