These innovative converters, designed and manufactured by Norvento TECHnPower in Spain, can operate in both grid-connected (on-grid) and off-grid environments, and switch seamlessly between different operating modes: voltage and frequency support via grid-forming and black start.

Its compact design, high efficiency and adaptability make the nXL converter family the ideal choice for large-scale projects seeking to optimize the use of renewable energy and energy storage.

The nXL range has been designed as a multi-purpose solution to facilitate the integration of various energy technologies. Capable of being assembled on a 20-foot skid, it is compatible with photovoltaic solar power plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS), green hydrogen electrolyzers, port infrastructure applications (OPS), and railway overhead lines, as well as systems requiring network control via STATCOM or active filters.

Among its key technical features are an ultra-low harmonic content (THDi <1%), a DC/AC ratio of up to 200% without modification, and a unique, market-leading, sealed cooling system designed by Norvento TECHnPower that is resistant to any adverse conditions. This system combines liquid cooling for the converter's main components with internal recirculation of cool air, without any air exchange with the outside, guaranteeing stable operation even in extreme climates. Thanks to this design, the entire converter system achieves an IP65 protection rating, safeguarding key components and keeping the interior isolated from harsh environmental conditions.

The nXL family also integrates advanced control and predictive maintenance algorithms based on artificial intelligence. Furthermore, by eliminating all air filters, the new units require minimal maintenance and repair.

One of the sectors where this technology is particularly relevant is data centers, where energy continuity and stability are critical. Norvento TECHnPower's nXL converters offer a secure and adaptable power source, with direct integration with batteries to cover peak demand or potential outages, thus guaranteeing a continuous power supply.

Furthermore, thanks to its sealed cooling system, the nXL converter family is suitable for desert areas, areas of high corrosion near the sea or very extreme temperatures, and even in areas with conductive particles present in the air, such as mines and volcanic areas.

New brand

The launch of the nXL range marks a new era, ushered in by the introduction of Norvento TECHnPower, Norvento's new technology brand, which also represents a technological leap towards equipment designed for large-scale applications. Norvento TECHnPower brings together the most advanced solutions for energy generation, intelligent management, and storage. This brand was created with a clear vision: to accelerate decarbonization with proprietary, flexible technology, ready for a renewable energy model.

The nXL converter family will be manufactured at neFO, the pioneering self-sufficient, emissions-neutral factory that Norvento is building in Lugo. This facility will house the production of all Norvento TECHnPower equipment once operational and will serve as a practical demonstration of the sustainability principles that guide Norvento. It is estimated that this plant will prevent the annual emission of 187,000 tons of CO₂.

“At Norvento, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new nXL converter family, a milestone that brings together all of Norvento's knowledge and expertise, built over more than 40 years in the sector and 15 as a manufacturer. With the nXL range, we have developed a family of bidirectional converters that combines the highest power density on the market with multipurpose capabilities. These units can operate both on the grid and in isolated environments, and seamlessly transition between different operating modes, allowing them to adapt to a wide variety of applications: from photovoltaic plants and BESS systems to hydrogen electrolyzers, data centers, and port infrastructure. All of this is achieved with a compact, robust design, built for extreme environments, and designed and manufactured entirely in Spain,” stated Álvar Mayor Miguel, Innovation Director at Norvento TECHnPower.
