Silicon Valley-based smart lock maker U-tec is using Silicon Labs solutions in its new Ultraloq Bolt Fingerprint Matter, the first biometric smart lock with Matter over Thread.

Silicon Labs' ultra-low-power solutions for Matter, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi enable the integration of Matter over Thread into the Nuki Smart Lock.
The fourth-generation Nuki Smart Lock is designed to fit European-style doors and is the first with native Matter support, meaning users don't need a separate bridge or module to operate their new smart lock across various ecosystems. The Nuki Smart Lock is supported by numerous Silicon Labs solutions, selected for their energy efficiency, security, and reliability in the development of Matter over Thread.

Silicon Labs' Matter-certified MG24 SoC and EFP01 power management integrated circuit provide Nuki with a combination of IoT wireless connectivity in efficient mesh networks using Matter, OpenThread, and Zigbee protocols.

Nuki also uses BG22 Bluetooth SoC to meet the unique requirements of battery-powered, mass-produced Bluetooth products and WF200 Wi-Fi transceiver , which is ideal for secure, low-power Wi-Fi IoT applications optimized for low power consumption and optimal RF performance in congested environments.

The Austrian company plans to launch its locks in the US later this year.
