The new CUZ series products are designed to protect semiconductor devices against long-pulse switching and lightning-induced surges, which can occur in the microsecond to millisecond range, as well as near-DC surge pulses. While Toshiba's TVS diodes specialize in electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, these Zener products protect against surges and simultaneously provide ESD protection. The four products in this specific line share a maximum absolute power dissipation (PD) of 600 mW and a maximum pulse current (IPP) of 5 A, in accordance with IEC 61000-4-5, under a peak transient (tpZ (min. to max.) ranging from 52 V to 60 V (CUZ56V) to 70 V to 79 V (CUZ75V), measured at a current (IZ) of 2 mA. Furthermore, the ESD voltages (VESD) range from ±13 kV (CUZ56V) to ±23 kV (CUZ75V) under contact conditions, and 5 kV under air conditions. The dynamic resistance (RDYNC) ranges from 112 V to 120 V.

The new products are housed in the SOD-323 (USC) package, which features gull-wing leads for easy installation and provides good visibility for automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment to improve reliability. The package dimensions are small, typically 2.5 mm x 1.25 mm x 0.9 mm, contributing to space savings on circuit boards and ensuring compatibility with existing SOD-323 mounting environments. Toshiba will continue to expand its range of protection Zener diodes to further enhance the reliability of electronic equipment.
