Eaton's new fuse disconnector is the first NH fuse disconnector that can be connected to SmartWire-DT as standard.
As part of the xEffect switchgear series, XNH offers a wide range of disconnect switches and accessories. This enables it to meet the requirements of numerous applications in demanding fields such as machine and system manufacturing, as well as conventional power distribution. Eaton is therefore introducing a range of devices to the market that offer even more safety features than those specified by IEC/EN 60947-3.
To connect to SmartWire-DT, Eaton's intelligent communication and wiring system, simply connect a communication module to the XNH disconnect switch. This allows for continuous monitoring and control of the fuse status, switch position, and energy consumption values. The data can be transmitted via gateways to all established industrial fieldbuses. Consequently, responsible personnel can detect critical conditions early from the control center and immediately locate the source of the problem.
The pilot-controlled fuse monitoring system (FCL) also helps reduce downtime in the affected circuit in the event of a failure. The FCL indicates fuse failures to the operator via LEDs, allowing the faulty fuse to be identified and replaced immediately on-site.
The side and top contact guards, as well as the twist guard, located on the fuse disconnector cover, offer enhanced operator protection during switching operations. Eaton has integrated contact protection into the design by safely separating current-carrying components both on the device and in the switchgear cabinet. A locking mechanism is also included to prevent accidental switching. During maintenance, the operator can move the fuse cover to a "rest position" and secure it to the locking mechanism using a clamp, for example.
It also incorporates, as additional features, an electrical anti-theft device, full coating and multiple connection technology, as well as box, flange or clip type terminals.
The XNH disconnect switch is available in four sizes: 00, 1, 2, and 3. The range includes three-pole devices, as well as one-, two-, and four-pole models for direct connection to busbars, mounting plates, and rails. In the case of the version for 60 mm busbar systems, such as the Eaton Sasy 60i, the bottom cable connection can be easily converted to a top connection.
