SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of SMART Global Holdings, Inc., has announced a new addition to its SMART RUGGED™ product lineup, the 2.5" HRS-T5E SATA SSD.
Powered by a custom, flexible flash controller, the HRS-T5E SSD delivers ideal read/write performance for high-performance applications such as flight data recorders and sensor data capture. It is also well-suited for high-reliability telemetry, surveillance, and other mission-critical storage applications.
Available in capacities up to 4TB, SMART's new 3D TLC NAND storage solution offers greater reliability, superior performance, and requires less power and cooling in applications where traditional hard disk drives (HDDs) are typically used. Recent improvements in 3D NAND, error correction technology, and endurance-enhancing data placement make the T5E a perfectly suited cost-effective replacement for 2D planar-based SSDs in read-intensive applications.
As part of the SMART RUGGED product offering, the T5E can be configured with a number of optional security features. These include SMART's Security Data Erasure Technology (SDET), which meets current declassification standards, as well as 256-bit AES-XTS encryption, which automatically protects all data written to the drive. The HRS-T5E also passes the MIL-STD-810G standard and can be configured to comply with OPAL 2.0.

SMART will be showcasing its entire SMART RUGGED product line at the "All Things Unmanned" AUVSI Xponential 2019 Expo from April 30 to May 2 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, at booth 4742. SMART will also be exhibiting at the 2019 Marine-Aerospace Expo from May 6 to 8 at the Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, in the main exhibit hall at booth 1051.
