The Lepton XDS, designed for rapid integration and without ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) restrictions, reduces development risk and accelerates time to market for embedded, mobile, and industrial applications.

The Lepton XDS incorporates a 160 × 120 Lepton 3.5 radiometric microthermal camera and a five-megapixel (MP) visible light sensor with MSX, which enhances thermal images in real time by highlighting the edges of the visible image directly within the thermal scene. This proprietary software provides sharper details, improved context, and a level of executable thermal intelligence typically found in higher-priced, higher-resolution camera systems. It is ideal for fire detection and prevention, EV battery monitoring, robotic navigation, unmanned platforms, smart infrastructure, and health and safety systems.

“MSX technology has long been a key advantage for Teledyne FLIR, and with the Lepton XDS, we’ve made this capability affordable in a compact, OEM-ready module,” said Mike Walters, vice president of product management for Teledyne FLIR OEM. “By adding a visible light camera, a proven microthermal sensor, Prism ISP processing, and direct access to radiometric overlays such as spot measurement and region of interest identification, we’re accelerating innovation and enabling OEMs to deliver sharper thermal images for faster user interpretation.”.

Prism ISP: Advanced Image Capture Beyond MSX.
The integrated FLIR Prism ISP software ensures real-time image enhancement and provides a powerful suite of new advanced image processing features, including thermal and visible light fusion, advanced image processing, and the first radiometric JPEG (RJPEG) output on the market. Integrated measurement and visualization tools include regions of interest (ROI), temperature measurement identification, isotherms, and customizable color palettes. It is also fully compatible with the Teledyne FLIR OEM software ecosystem for analysis, post-processing, and reporting.

Designed for scalable OEM deployment,
the Lepton XDS is a size-, weight-, and power-optimized (SWaP) module, and its standard USB output makes it ideal for battery-powered and always-on systems. It is also ITAR-exempt and ECCN 6a993.b.4.b rated, ensuring broad availability for commercial applications worldwide.
