As an extension of Avago's market-proven HEDS-914x module series, the new AEDT-981x module series features an integrated interpolator compatible with a wide encoding resolution range from 1,000 to 5,000 counts per revolution (CPR) using an 11 mm optical radius code wheel. This new industrial-grade module series operates in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +115°C. Compared to competitive solutions, the AEDT-981x consumes 70% less power, minimizing energy consumption, and boasts high spatial backlash tolerance and a large encoder disc spacing, facilitating motor shaft alignment and enhancing photodetector signal integrity.

The encoder is available as a standalone module unit, the AEDT-981x, or in three pre-assembled module kits. The AEDM-5xxx is a kit with a snap-on cover, the AEDC-5xxx is a kit with a latch connector, and the AEDL-5xxx is a kit with an integrated differential line driver IC compatible with RS-422 outputs.
