Inductive coupler copyThe new BIC inductive coupling system from Balluff is housed in a robust stainless steel M30 enclosure with an IP67 protection rating and offers a viable solution for contactless data and power transfer. A highly favorable price-performance ratio and high data transfer rates are just two of its impressive features. Typical applications include indexing tables, replaceable rubber seals, and more.

Balluff's BIC systems are capable of quickly and reliably transferring power and signals across gaps of up to 5 mm, while ensuring optimized performance. These systems are significantly more powerful than previous solutions, yet maintain the same design. A maximum of 12 W is transferred, supplying 24 VDC and 500 mA to the remote end for the sensor system.

Installation, assembly, and replacement are extremely simple thanks to the Plug and Play feature and the convenient M12 connector for connecting to the base and remote unit. Clearly visible LEDs on the unit heads, which indicate operating voltage and status, simplify adjustment and mounting. Furthermore, the systems can meet all the requirements of the assigned task with a maximum deviation angle of 18 degrees, provided the clearance is adjusted accordingly.

Designers can select the best solution from three different BIC variants; however, new ones are currently under development. The appropriate BIC inductive coupling system can be used to implement complex tasks such as configuring a fieldbus connection responsible for bidirectional data transfer from up to 16 sensors via an IO-Link connection. In this case, only an IO-Link sensor distributor and a compatible IO-Link master would be required as additional components.
