The Omron sensor is capable of detecting particles as small as 1 micron, less than half the size established by the PM2.5 standard for fine particulate matter in the atmosphere. It is also characterized by its high airflow, approximately six times greater than that of other available sensors, which improves its sensitivity to changes in the environment.
Gabriele Fulco, Marketing Director for Sensors at Omron in Europe, stated: “Controlling air pollution, including emissions from vehicles, as well as cigarettes and other types of smoke, is a major concern for municipal governments and building managers. You can only control what you can detect, which is why Omron believes it is making a significant contribution to the environment and public health by introducing this new, highly sensitive dust particle sensor.”.
Omron's new sensor is very compact, measuring just 50mm x 45mm x 20mm, making it 20% smaller than other well-known solutions. This sensor is part of Omron's growing range of solutions for HVAC and other environmental systems. These solutions include the D6F-PH MEMS pressure sensor and the D6F-V velocity sensors, which incorporate a Dust Segregation System (DSS). The design of all Omron sensors ensures highly sensitive, temperature-compensated air measurement for precise HVAC control.
