current-transducer-ho-wThe new models, for nominal measurements of 6, 10 or 25 A of DC, AC and pulse signals, take advantage of a revised version of LEM's open-loop Hall effect ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) circuits, which were introduced several months ago with the launch of the HO 8, 15 and 25-NP & –NSM models.

The new devices, which use LEM's newly developed ASICs along with open-loop Hall effect technology, meet the demand for high performance and quality at a lower cost.

The offset and gain drift of the HO 6, 10, and 25-P models offer twice the accuracy (within a temperature range of -25 to +85°C) of the previous generation. The high level of isolation between the primary and measurement circuits, due to large air gaps and creepage distances exceeding 8 mm, along with a comparative tracking index (CTI) of 600, allows for an insulation voltage test of 4.3 kVRMS/50 Hz/1 min.

Furthermore, the HO xx-P series offers improved performance in aspects such as response time, power supply and noise, enabling the development of more advanced power electronics applications.

The transducers require a mounting area of only 2.88 cm² and weigh just 10 g. They can measure up to 2.5 times the primary nominal current and also incorporate an overcurrent detection pin set at 2.63 times the IPN (peak) nominal current. These products also provide fault reports in the event of memory corruption. LEM's HO xx-P transducers operate on a single supply voltage of either 3.3 or 5 V.

The new range provides a full-scale analog voltage output; in most systems, this signal is converted to a digital value by an A/D converter that requires a reference voltage. The HO xx-P series can also be configured to take measurements relative to an external reference.

LEM's HO xx-P models are ideal for a range of applications with the mounting flexibility offered by the opening and small size, such as junction boxes in solar installations and solar inverters, as well as small smart meters, variable speed drives, uninterruptible power supply systems and switched-mode power supplies, air conditioning systems, household appliances, static converters for DC motor drives and robotics.

The transducers are CE marked, comply with EN 50178, and are approved for industrial applications with a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +105°C. LEM offers a five-year warranty for each transducer.
