For compressed air applications, using LeakQ in conjunction with Fluke's online CO2 emissions calculatorallows users to quantify the financial value and environmental impact of detecting and repairing system leaks by creating detailed reports from images captured with the Fluke ii900 Industrial Acoustic Camera and ii910 Precision Acoustic Camera.

Leaks are typically concentrated at unthreaded joints or connections, open ends in large holes or open-ended conduits, threaded connections with metal threads, weld cracks, and rubber, flexible, and plastic tubing and conduits. Conventional leak detection instruments only measure decibels in a narrow frequency band, while LeakQ automatically sweeps the entire frequency spectrum and captures the actual frequency range generating the leak.

To generate a report and estimate potential leak costs, the user simply transfers inspection data from the ii900 or ii910 to a PC, where it can be entered into the online LeakQ report generator. The user then inputs operational variables such as gas type, pressure, electricity cost, and the power index, which measures compressor efficiency. The generated report includes a summary of all leaks, along with estimates of their individual and annual volumes, costs, and emissions. Images of the leaks are also included in the report, which can be shared as a PDF or downloaded as a CSV file for import into existing maintenance systems. An option allows users to share their experiences directly with Fluke so the company can continue to improve and enhance the usability of its leak detection tools.
