Boson features a highly sensitive 12-micron pixel tilt detector that delivers high-resolution thermal imaging in a compact, lightweight, and energy-efficient package. It also offers various levels of video processing with input and processing from other sensors, including CMOS image sensors, GPS, and inertial measurement units (IMUs). Furthermore, FLIR XIR provides OEM customers with a range of advanced image processing features such as super-resolution algorithms, sophisticated noise reduction filters, local contrast enhancement, and image fusion.
With 320 x 256 or 640 x 512 aspect ratios and 15 field-of-view options, Boson offers the widest range of features and lens options for FLIR OEM customers. It is also compatible with most display interfaces, storage devices, and data communication. OEMs can also leverage FLIR's solutions accelerator to develop product solutions for key vertical markets, including firefighting, automotive, marine, hunting, UAS, and military applications.
“Boson represents a significant advancement in size, weight, power consumption, and cost for high-performance small microbolometer cameras,” said Andy Teich, president and CEO of FLIR. “As the market demands smaller and more affordable camera cores, we continue to conduct technical analyses to enable us to deliver high-performance detection at lower production costs. We are excited to add Boson to our core family and offer OEMs more configuration options that will help them accelerate development and reduce time to market.”
FLIR's Boson is available today for OEMs to conduct product development testing.
