Infiniium oscilloscopes equipped with the new user interface allow engineers to easily manipulate their data across multiple monitors and move windows, graphs, and measurement results to any desired location on the screen. See a short video demonstration at www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMwJgbWKGEY.
The new interface can be used on both oscilloscope mainframes and offline on a PC using Agilent's Infiniium N8900A offline analysis software. Infiniium offline software overcomes the oscilloscope processing bottleneck, allowing engineers to view, analyze, share, and document their results at a different location or time than where they are conducting tests.
To help engineers create better documentation faster, the new user interface displays bookmarks and composite files—documentation features previously unavailable in any oscilloscope user interface. Because the Infiniium offline software allows the new user interface to run on a PC, engineers can more easily share information with design partners, suppliers, and customers using USB flash drives, email, or internet conferencing systems.
“I was one of the engineers who designed the original Infiniium user interface, so I can attest that our focus on usability has driven development from the very beginning,” said Jay Alexander, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Oscilloscopes and Protocols Division. “Just like that first design, our latest user interface reflects extensive customer feedback and usability testing results. It greatly complements our market-leading hardware technology and enables engineers to resolve design challenges more quickly.”.
The Infiniium user interface incorporates several innovations for the sector:
o It is the first to incorporate independent dockable windows for time, frequency and protocol measurements in order to create user-customizable views.
It is the first to save composite files to make file sharing in multinational companies easier.
It is the first to migrate the complete user interface of real-time oscilloscopes to PC to speed up navigation and obtain more powerful visualization and analysis.
It is the first to incorporate smart markers that dynamically update delta values along with annotated axis values to speed up debugging.
It is the first to offer server-based, portable licenses to make sharing easier. (In addition to sharing data, users can lend each other application licenses.).
Additionally, the Infiniium N8900 offline analysis application is the first PC-based application to support protocol decoding for I²C; SPI; RS-232; RS-422; RS-485; UART; JTAG; CAN; Symbolic CAN; LIN; FlexRay; USB; PCIe(r) gen 1, 2 and 3; MIPI® D-PHY and M-PHY®; DigRF; 8B/10B; SATA/SAS; HDMI; DDR1, 2, 3 and 4; LPDDR 1, 2 and 3; and 64B/66B Ethernet to accelerate the debugging of designs that include serial buses.
