The WaveRunner 6 Zi family of oscilloscopes boasts unparalleled signal fidelity with very low noise. This performance is further enhanced by its extensive offset and timebase delay adjustment capabilities, enabling easy and precise signal tuning and zooming on both the vertical and horizontal axes. With a memory depth of up to 128 Mpts, a sampling rate of up to 40 GS/s, low noise, ease of use, a comprehensive line of probes, and a complete suite of serial data analysis tools, these are the most versatile oscilloscopes in their 400 MHz to 4 GHz class.

LeCroy has preliminarily announced plans to launch the 12-bit WaveRunner HRO in May 2011. This 12-bit, 400-600 MHz, 4-channel waveRunner HRO features a 12-bit resolution, operates at 400-600 MHz, and
has also designed the WaveRunner 6 Zi with a tilting display that allows for both vertical and horizontal signal viewing, providing greater detail and optimizing analysis. The comprehensive toolset includes everything engineers need to validate new designs, debug errors, and characterize embedded systems. The WaveRunner 6 Zi is the ultimate debugging machine.

The first rotating screen: optimal signal visualization.
The large, high-resolution 12.1-inch WXGA screen (up from 10.4 inches in the previous model) has been designed to provide the best view of any type of on-screen signal. The wide screen is ideal for a variety of signals where extensive recording, zooming, or searching are required. Rotating the screen up to 90° allows for optimized viewing of digital signals, jitter tracking, eye diagrams, and frequency domain analysis. The on-screen image adjusts automatically when rotated. Tilt the screen up or down to avoid glare and reflections. This is not a portable display unit, but if the application requires it, an additional monitor can be connected via video connection.

High-Performance X-Stream II Architecture:
The WaveRunner 6 Zi makes acquiring large data streams a pleasure thanks to its X-Stream II architecture and fast data processing, available exclusively through LeCroy. This architecture utilizes waveform segments of varying lengths to improve CPU cache efficiency. Traditional digital oscilloscopes that process entire waveforms suffer performance issues due to overly simplified architectures that don't consider CPU performance. As a result, the WaveRunner is significantly faster at processing long captures compared to other oscilloscopes. The X-Stream II architecture is complemented by an Intel® Dual Core™ processor, high-speed data buses, a 64-bit Windows 7™ operating system, and up to 4 GB of RAM.

LeCroy2The Most Comprehensive Serial Data Analysis.
To begin, troubleshooting serial data requires a deep understanding of the protocol in question. With the WaveRunner 6 Zi, the oscilloscope is the expert. Simply connect your probes or cables, and the oscilloscope will provide the level of detail required to view, debug, and analyze serial data signals. Solutions target embedded systems, the military market, avionics, mobile devices, peripherals, and storage, with a combination of decoding, triggering, measurement, graphing, and certification tools. Whether the protocol under test is a new, emerging standard requiring jitter measurements and eye diagrams, a mature standard requiring conformance testing, or an embedded protocol requiring timing measurements, various trigger types, decoding, and conformance testing, the WaveRunner 6 Zi has it all.
The new JITKIT package makes it easier to understand how our system behaves at the jitter level in clock and data signals, including period, half-period, cycle-cycle, time offset, amplitude, rise times, and a wide variety of typical jitter measurements.

New operating concept:
The WavePilot control area features convenient control of cursors, decoding, WaveScan, historical data, LabNotebook, and spectral analysis via their respective function buttons on the front panel. The SuperKnob is a joystick located in the center of the WavePilot control area used for easy navigation through tables, zooms, and waveforms, and for quickly documenting and annotating your settings.

Maximum Triggering Capability:
A powerful combination of high bandwidth, ten different SMART triggers, cascading triggers up to four stages, over-measure triggering, and the Triggerscan function are all standard, allowing you to quickly isolate the problem and focus on finding its cause. Over-measure triggering offers a powerful option for qualifying trigger events based on a high-resolution, qualified measurement. High-speed serial triggering allows you to trigger serial patterns at up to 3 Gb/s with a length of up to 80 bits. A full range of serial triggers are also available (I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, Audio (I2S, LJ, RJ, TDM), CAN, LIN, FlexRay, MIL-STD-1553, SATA, PCIe, 8b/10b, USB2, and many others).

LeCroy3Custom Tools:
Only LeCroy fully integrates third-party software directly into the oscilloscope's processing engine, allowing you to create and implement new measurements and mathematical algorithms directly within the oscilloscope environment and display their results in real time on the oscilloscope screen. Use C/C++, MATLAB®, Excel, JScript (Java), and Visual Basic to create your own advanced mathematical functions, measurement parameters, or other control algorithms.

History Mode
: History Mode allows you to go back in time to isolate anomalies, measure parameters, or use cursors to quickly find the source of the problem. History Mode continuously stores waveforms, so no user action is required to save the traces; simply run the viewer.

TriggerScan™
utilizes high-speed, persistent triggering hardware to capture only the signals of interest, delivering results up to 100 times faster than other methods. Traditional methods excel at detecting rare events with fast rise times.
In addition to general-purpose waveform analysis tools, specific solutions are also available for high-speed serial data applications, embedded designs, digital designs, and automotive applications. These options extend LeCroy's standard analysis capabilities and allow the WaveRunner 6 Zi to be expanded as needed.

It's worth noting that the WaveRunner 6Zi has extremely low fan noise, an important feature for those who use the equipment continuously. Additionally, this new oscilloscope has a smaller footprint than previous WaveRunner models.
