The new “Sequence Restart Mode” expands the already extensive list of features, firmware options, and software tools, making AWGs even more versatile. Developed based on direct customer demand, this feature is now offered free of charge to all users. The new Sequence Restart Mode is available free of charge for all 66 AWG models in the 65xx and 66xx series simply by installing the latest drivers.
The existing "Sequence Mode" provides a simple method for generating long-duration signals by repeating and linking waveform segments of varying lengths. This capability allows for the seamless linking of complex waveform chains, creating a virtually unlimited flow of test signals. With the addition of the new "Sequence Restart Mode," Spectrum Instrumentation AWGs offer even greater flexibility. This new mode allows for the automatic and highly accurate restart of the entire linked and looped waveform sequence upon receiving a trigger signal. The time between triggering and output remains constant, enabling automated test processes to be restarted as needed, reducing test times and improving overall measurement efficiency.
Driven by customer demand
The new "Sequence Restart Mode" is an excellent example of Spectrum Instrumentation's rapid response to customer requests. The original need for this mode came from Dr. Johannes Rahm, a scientist at the PTB in Germany (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt – German Federal Institute of Metrology). His team is responsible for maintaining official time in Germany using atomic clocks (cesium fountain clocks).
Commenting on the new mode, Dr. Rahm stated, "For the Spectrum AWG boards I use, I needed a special version of the sequence mode to generate RF frequencies. These frequencies are used to manipulate the laser frequencies employed in atom cooling and fluorescence spectroscopy. Spectrum's engineers responded quickly to my request, my tests were successful, and the new mode works exactly as I envisioned." Such situations benefit everyone: the customer receives a solution tailored to their needs thanks to Spectrum's support, while all other users benefit from an ever-expanding set of features and modes.
Available immediately for free
The new feature is available free of charge for all Spectrum Instrumentation 65xx and 66xx series AWGs simply by installing the latest drivers. Designed for computer-controlled operation, these instruments utilize a unified software suite that simplifies system integration and future updates.
Software support is available for Windows and Linux, with programming examples in Python, MATLAB, C++, and LabVIEW, as well as a high-level Python API. All Spectrum products come with lifetime technical support provided directly by the Spectrum engineering team, along with free software and firmware updates.
