The testo 6448 portable flow meter has several signal outputs and is suitable for numerous applications, offering advantages such as: - Compressed air costs can be allocated by department or consumption units according to the causative principle.
- The prescribed limit values are reliably monitored.
- Flow losses caused by almost imperceptible pores in pipes, joints, etc. are reliably detected.
- Peaks are analyzed based on the amount of compressed air consumption, which helps to optimize the workload in the production plant.
- The required compressed air is measured very precisely, for example, in applications in the pharmaceutical research sector.
The testo 6448 is quick and easy to install. An optional perforated clamp allows for precise mounting of the sensor without welding and under normal operating conditions. A ball valve in the clamp allows the compressed air line to be opened or sealed without pressure loss when the insertion probe is installed or removed. This enables measurements at multiple points in the system using just one probe.
The flowmeter's backflow protection combines three important functions in a single instrument:
- The sensor can only be inserted in one direction, preventing injury from back pressure.
- An encapsulated O-ring prevents air from escaping during installation.
Thanks to its adjustable mounting positions, the immersion depth and setting can be precisely defined.
The testo 6448 sensor measures the standardized flow rate of compressed air based on a calorimetric measurement principle. Velocity measurements can reach up to 80 m/s or 160 m/s (in high-speed mode) with a response time of 0.1 s. This instrument is designed for measuring in pipes with diameters from DN40 to DN300, making it ideal for extensive networks. It can also be optionally configured for gas measurement in nitrogen (N2) or CO2.
Those responsible for compressed air who use the instrument will find that it has several signal outputs for flexible use; the analog output can be freely scaled according to the respective flow rate from 4 to 20 mA (4-wire technology). The flow rate can be specified in Nm³/h or Nm³/min; the flow meter withstands pressures up to 16 bar.
To evaluate the measured consumption, it is transmitted via a pulse output to a control system. For example, maintenance indicators can be controlled or additional air valves can be closed using the two relay outputs when preset limit values are exceeded.
The insertion probe is very easy to operate: it features a 4-digit alphanumeric display and an intuitive menu controlled by two keys and eight indicator LEDs. Furthermore, the instrument is IP65 rated.
