In the words of Terry Marrinan, Sales and Marketing Director for Yokogawa's Test and Measurement division in Europe and Africa: “Both the traditional power generation and distribution sector and the emerging alternative energy markets are placing increasing emphasis on energy savings and efficiency. Likewise, manufacturers of everything from large electric motors to small household appliances are striving to optimize energy consumption, with the resulting economic and environmental benefits. Yokogawa's history as a market leader in power measurement puts us in an ideal position to support our customers in these sectors. And the WT1800 is a key product in this regard.”.
Input-to-output efficiency measurement in power equipment.
The WT1800 can perform measurements on up to 6 inputs, allowing you to measure the input-to-output efficiency of equipment such as three-phase inverters. With a high-resolution 8.4-inch XGA display, the instrument is easy to configure and displays up to 12 pages or screens of measurements in numerical, waveform, trend, vector, or phasor diagram formats, etc.
16-bit, 2 MS/s A/D converters
Many modern power conversion circuits use switching techniques that produce highly distorted voltage or current waveforms, resulting in a high harmonic content. To accurately measure these waveforms, the WT1800 uses 16-bit resolution A/D converters with a speed of 2 MS/s.
The WT1800 has a power measurement bandwidth from DC and 0.1 Hz to 1 MHz. Its power measurement accuracy is 0.1% of reading plus 0.05% of range.
For electric motor measurement applications, the WT1800 is also ideal, offering measurements
of all relevant parameters in a single instrument: rotational and synchronous speed, torque, slip, mechanical power, mechanical and overall efficiency, etc.
Additionally, A, B, and Z phase input terminals have been included for advanced motor analysis. These inputs make it possible to detect the motor's direction of rotation, as well as the electrical angle (measured using the Z phase signal).
filtering
function improves the ability to eliminate unwanted harmonic components and noise in signals from inverters or variable-speed electric motors. This new filter can be configured independently for each input element or module, and from 100 Hz to 100 kHz, in 100 Hz steps. A 300 kHz and a 1 MHz analog filter are also available (for each input).
Harmonic analysis can be performed up to the 500th order for fundamental frequency signals of 50 or 60 Hz. This functionality is particularly important for measurements of the latest power electronics converters and devices.
Dual harmonic measurement function
: The dual harmonic measurement function, unique to this device, allows for the simultaneous measurement and analysis of harmonic content from two different sources, such as the input and output of inverters, lighting ballasts, uninterruptible power supplies, etc. Harmonic data is also measured simultaneously with normal power parameters, providing more accurate, faster, and simpler power analysis and measurement.
Peak Power Tracking Measurement for Photovoltaic Panels.
With the photovoltaic solar sector in mind, peak power tracking was implemented to maximize the power generated by the panels. To perform this measurement, the WT1800 measures peak voltage, current, and power values and calculates the derived parameters.
A power integration function is also available to measure power consumed or generated (and fed into the grid). The WT1800 incorporates the active power averaging function developed by Yokogawa, which enables power consumption measurement even under conditions of large power fluctuations.
For the first time in high-precision power analyzers, a trigger function is incorporated to capture only specific events. The trigger can be configured, for example, to measure values below a preselected range, so the WT1800 will only store, print, or send data that meets the defined trigger condition.
All the latest communication interfaces, such as Ethernet, USB, and GPIB, are included in the WT1800. It also features a USB interface for storage devices.
