Pickering's Switch Path Manager (SPM) software simplifies signal routing through switching systems and accelerates switching system software development. It is especially useful for large, complex switching systems. It supports all 1000 Pickering switching modules and their interconnection. Once a switching system model has been created, signal routing can be achieved simply by defining the endpoints that need to be connected.
Useful features such as short-circuit detection are included.
The latest version, 6.1.2, introduces the Auto-Discover Configurator, which pre-communicates with the hardware before it is added to the configuration, gathering connector information, handling addressing, verifying the hardware's existence in SPM, assigning names, and identifying it. This greatly minimizes the initial SPM switching configuration task.
Route caching is a means of improving routing performance. Calculating the route when making a connection takes time. If there is a sequence of repeated connections, route caching avoids duplicate calculations and uses stored route data, thus speeding up switching.
