Founded in 1958 in Kyoto, Japan, the ROHM Group has become a global player and supplier in the electronics industry. The company produces a wide range of solutions, including integrated circuits for power management, SiC MOSFETs, diodes and modules, silicon power transistors and diodes, as well as LEDs, resistors, and many other electronic components. As a vertically integrated semiconductor manufacturer, ROHM is largely independent of suppliers and can respond more flexibly to market changes.
ROHM Semiconductor Europe, founded in 1971 and headquartered in Willich, near Düsseldorf, Germany, is currently represented by eight offices in six countries: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Finland, and Italy. In addition, ROHM's SiCrystal production facility, located in Nuremberg, Germany, supplies silicon carbide wafers to global markets.
The company's European activities—in line with the ROHM Group's medium-term management plan, "MOVING FORWARD to 2025"—aim to accelerate its social contribution. "We focus on analog and power solutions and contribute to our customers' needs for energy savings and product downsizing," says Wolfram Harnack, President of ROHM Semiconductor Europe.
ROHM's European business serves both the automotive and industrial application areas. "For example, car manufacturers are strongly demanding our silicon carbide devices for their electric vehicle production. Furthermore, we also see exciting projects in the industrial sector and expect significant growth in Europe, particularly in the areas of e-mobility and alternative energy infrastructure," Harnack continues.
ROHM's customer focus in Europe is reflected in the Power Lab, a state-of-the-art power electronics laboratory located at the company's EU headquarters in Willich. This lab provides ROHM's European customers with significant application-level technical support. "With our activities and expertise at the Technical Applications and Solutions Centre (ATSC) and the Power Lab, we enhance our support for local customers, enabling them to make their products even better with cutting-edge equipment and specialized measurements," explains Aly Mashaly, Director of ROHM's European Technical Applications and Solutions Centre.
Furthermore, ROHM's commitment to supporting its European OEM and Tier 1 partners is reflected in several supplier awards and design projects.
