The adaptation of high catenary voltages to low three-phase voltage to power electric vehicle chargers must be high power, up to 500 kW, with galvanic isolation six times the working voltage (18.5 kV) and high efficiency, as it will be sold with the energy.
This first prototype will be installed at Madrid-Atocha station, an infrastructure that already houses Salicru DC POWER-L digitized thyristor rectifiers. It is an innovative solution based on a 250 kW parallelizable five-level converter (nine phase-to-phase levels) with a high efficiency of approximately 96% at a switching frequency of 7 kHz, while also reducing acoustic noise. Both of these features are unusual for converters at these voltages and power levels.
Salicru goes further, aiming to provide power to isolated points in the railway infrastructure, and has also developed a 125 kW model with similar performance but a switching frequency of 10 kHz, resulting in very low acoustic noise. Both modular, parallelizable designs allow for grid connection and bidirectional operation, as well as reactive power management and harmonic compensation, completing the offering.
For high-speed lines like the AVE, whose high voltage is 25 kV AC, Salicru provides low-voltage converters, single-phase to three-phase, for the same functionality.
