As an immediate benefit, KEYMILE offers a Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) power generator. The DMFC generator enhances the reliability of the company's XMC20 product family for mission-critical communications networks used by local authorities, railway companies, energy utilities, and oil and gas suppliers. KEYMILE has signed a distribution agreement with Danish fuel cell manufacturer IRD to use its DMFC generator – model 800. In the event of a power outage, continuous operation is guaranteed. This is of vital importance for SOS communications and other mission-critical networks, such as air traffic control, border control, and oil and gas pipeline monitoring systems.
The DMFC generator is a highly efficient means of generating power during a power outage. It is distinguished by its long operating time. The methanol fuel cell operates very efficiently and requires no moving parts. It is exceptionally reliable and maintenance-free, provided it is fueled with methanol and air oxygen. Unlike a diesel generator, it operates quietly and produces no harmful emissions. Methanol management is quite simple. Its power density is superior, even compared to highly compressed hydrogen, and 15 times greater than lithium-ion batteries.
The DMFC generator fits in a 19-inch rack and integrates with the standard KEYMILE UNEM network management system. It is ideal for data centers and remote sites that need to operate without local maintenance personnel. It is designed to withstand significant temperature fluctuations and operates at altitudes up to 3,000 meters above sea level.
