These updates include: the introduction of three new cells in the LM range; a significant boost in production capacity; and the consolidation of the Friwo-M range within Saft.
Saft has developed its Li-MnO2 cells to supply critical power to industrial devices with an estimated lifespan of up to 20 years. This is typically longer than the actual useful life of the equipment, a crucial consideration since equipment is not usually designed to replace the battery; rather, the equipment's lifespan is tied to that of the battery. The cells are specifically designed to meet the needs of industrial applications worldwide that require reliability, high power, high levels of safety, and long life, including robust designs for demanding environments.
A key technical advantage of Saft's Li-MnO2 cells is their high pulse capacity, delivering high voltage even after extended periods of inactivity or when operating in very cold conditions. The batteries also offer unparalleled capabilities: an extremely low self-discharge rate (less than one percent per year) and high-quality construction that enables a lifespan of over 20 years. Furthermore, their high level of safety, with specific intrinsically safe designs, makes them suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Saft has added three new cells to its existing LM range: an LM17500 (size A), an LM26500 (size C), and finally an LM33600 (size D). This expands its capacity to cover all requirements from 0.5 to 33 Ah (ampere-hours) to broadly meet the range of customer applications.
Since the beginning of November 2014, Saft has been including its Friwo M cells under its main brand. The cells, manufactured in Büdingen, Germany, which previously carried the Friwo brand name, are now known as 'Saft M' cells. The M range will continue to focus on special designs for highly demanding applications. This range includes the world's only high-power primary lithium cells certified to ATEX/IECEx by an independent certification body, meaning they are designed to deliver safe and reliable high-energy performance in potentially explosive atmospheres. Saft's M cells have also demonstrated their unique advantages in aerospace and defense applications.
