The LE50-28 family of power converters is designed to meet MIL-STD-461 standards
. These power converters feature an EMI filter and offer designers the flexibility to adapt and customize their applications by choosing between one or three outputs, depending on the voltage range required by the end application. This series provides the flexibility to connect up to four power converters in parallel, achieving a total output of up to 200W.
The LE50-28 isolated DC/DC power converters, designed for systems with a 28V bus, can be integrated with Microchip's PolarFire® FPGA, microcontrollers, and LX7720-RT motor control sensor to create a complete electrical system. Designers can use these radiation-tolerant, highly reliable power solutions to significantly reduce system development time.
“The new LE50-28 family of devices enables our customers to succeed in new space and LEO environments, where components must withstand extremely harsh conditions,” said Leon Gross, vice president of Microchip’s discrete products group. “Our commercial products offer a reliable and cost-effective solution, designed to deliver the durability our customers expect from Microchip.”.
The LE50-28 power converters offer a variety of electrical connection and mounting options. The LE50 series is manufactured using conventional components for surface mounting and printed circuit board insertion. This distinction in the manufacturing process can reduce time to market and mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions.
The LE50-28 family offers tolerance to space radiation with a Total Ionizing Dose (TID) of 50 Krad and a blocking immunity against Single Event Effects (SEE) of 37 MeV·cm2/mg of linear energy transfer.
Microchip offers a wide range of components designed for the new space revolution, bridging the gap between traditional Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) and commercial components. Sub-QML components, designed for new space applications, are the optimal solution, combining the radiation tolerance of QML components with our spaceflight expertise. This allows for reduced shielding requirements, lower costs, and shorter lead times.
Microchip's numerous space solutions include FPGAs, power and discrete devices, memory products, communication interfaces, oscillators, microprocessors, and microcontrollers, offering a wide range of options with various qualification levels and the broadest portfolio for space applications.
