Housed in a SIP-7 package, the series is designed for medical instrumentation, equipment for harsh environments, and industrial control systems that require dual safety certification, both medical and for internal use devices (ITE), in a single component.

"The PTM1-S series demonstrates that a high level of isolation and medical-grade safety don't have to come at the expense of size," said Zoe Bauer, product manager at Bel. "It's a compact, dual-certified solution designed for engineers who need both.".

The PTM1-S series offers 6000 VDC insulation and reinforced insulation with a 300 VAC resistance rating, protecting against surges and inter-circuit faults in applications where insulation integrity is critical. The series is dual-certified to UL/IEC 62368 for IT equipment and to EN 60601 and 2xMOOP for medical use, giving engineers the flexibility to use a single part number for both medical and industrial applications, rather than requiring separate solutions for each.

The converters are certified for continuous operation across a wide temperature range, from -40°C to +100°C, making them suitable for demanding industrial and outdoor environments as well as controlled clinical settings. With a 1:1 input-to-output voltage ratio, the initial range includes 5, 12, 15, and 24 VDC input options with single 5 and 12 VDC outputs, thus covering the most common input voltage ranges in medical and industrial control platforms.
