In combination with high-grade components, the circuit could be encapsulated in a cubic plastic housing of only 1.23 cm3. That is only a quarter of the volume compared to conventional 5W DC/DC converters.
A specially designed planar switching transistor with an enlarged dissipation surface and additional thermally conductive encapsulation compound enables this stage of development without reduction in terms of performance and reliability, and without an increase in price.
The TDN 5WI series models operate reliably at ambient temperatures up to 50°C at full load, or up to 75°C with a 50% power reduction load. They provide 1500 VDC I/O isolation, meeting the requirements prevalent in IT, industrial, and consumer electronics.
The models are available in three input voltage versions of 4.5 - 12 V DC, 9 - 36 VDC or 18 - 75 VDC and have fully regulated outputs with the configuration of 3.3, 5.0, 12, 15, 24, ± 5.0, ± 12, ± 15 VDC.
Regulation does not require any minimum load and the converters offer an input for a remote off signal to optimize power management.
