Some products will be available at a lower cost than previous versions for bulk purchases.
Designated with the suffix "K," the new products include the previously announced R-78K-xx series, which are direct replacements for the three-terminal linear regulators, but now with a wider input range and more output voltage options. The 0.5A and 1A versions feature smaller housings, reduced weight, and increased efficiency.

Another introduction is the new RKK series, an improvement on the existing RKE and RFMM series, a 1W isolated SIP-7 DC/DC converter. The RKK series now features reduced electromagnetic interference, operates up to 105°C without power reduction, has continuous short-circuit protection, and offers higher efficiency than the RKE series, maintained at light loads. The elimination of the packaging saves cost and weight, reducing it by almost half to just 1.7g, further enhancing its "green" credentials. Versions with fully regulated output and the same performance improvements are available as the new RYK series, as upgrades to the existing RY series.

The popular 4:1 input regulated RSO product has also been upgraded to the RSOK series, which now features agency-rated "basic" grade insulation of 3kV/1min compared to the second "functional" grade of 2kV/1, lower insulation capacitance at 50pF, higher operating temperature up to 88°C without power reduction, and no minimum load requirements.
Similar improvements have been introduced to the RSE series with the new RSK-RUW, which features 3kV/1min insulation (up from 2kV/1 sec), 88.5% efficiency (up from 79%), an 8:1 input ratio (up from 4:1), lower insulation capacitance at 50pF, and operation up to 85°C without power reduction—10°C higher than the RSE series.

Another significant new addition is the 3W RS3K-Z SIP8 series, an improvement over the RS3E series. The -K version features a 4:1 input ratio and 3kV "basic" isolation, compared to the 2:1 input ratio and 3kV "functional" isolation of the -E series. The RS3K-Z series also boasts a wider operating temperature range up to +80°C without power reduction, lower insulation capacitance, and improved efficiency.

New techniques employed in the -K upgrades include package elimination, synchronous rectification for high efficiency, and planar transformers for automated assembly with high repeatability.
Matthew Dauterive, MSc., DC/DC Product Manager at RECOM, comments, “Low-power DC/DC converters can finally utilize the latest circuitry techniques to achieve advanced performance without a cost penalty, and they take advantage of our advanced and flexible manufacturing automation.”
The parts include a three-year warranty, and samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorized distributors or directly from RECOM.
