These drivers are designed to complement SiC-based IGBT and MOSFET high-voltage gate drivers used in industrial, renewable energy, and mobility applications. Available in input versions that adapt to commonly used 5V (under development), 12V, and 15V power lines, they feature bipolar outputs of +15V/-5V, +15V/-9V, and +20V/-5V.
The new MGJ2 DC-DC converters feature an ultra-low insulation capacitance of only 3 pF (typical). This helps mitigate transient coupling across the insulation barrier and prevents EMI problems caused by circulating currents generated by high-frequency signals. Their characterized partial discharge performance means that high operating levels can be maintained despite the demanding nature of the high-voltage applications in which they will be used. Furthermore, common-mode transient immunity (CMTI), exceeding 200 kV/µs, allows them to handle high switching frequencies.
Other key attributes of the MGJ2 units include a continuous barrier that withstands voltages up to 2.5 kV (also tested to withstand 5.7 kVDC for 1 minute), as well as creepage and separation distances of 9 mm. They support an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +100°C and also feature integrated short-circuit protection mechanisms. Compliance with UL62368 (for reinforced 250 VAC insulation) has already been ensured, and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 certification is pending.
These converters are designed for use in industrial motor drives, solar and wind turbine inverters, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and fast charging stations for electric vehicles.
