Both components have an insulation rating of 3kVDC/1 min (basic) with leakage and an input/output clearance greater than 8 mm, and operate from -40°C to 125°C with power reduction. The insulation capacitance is only 7pF. Protection features include short-circuit, overcurrent, overtemperature, and input undervoltage protection, making these components well-suited for applications requiring high reliability and robustness. EMI levels are also exceptionally low compared to more expensive competing products.
The SOIC-16 package measures just 10.35mm x 7.5mm and has a 2.5mm profile, perfect for space-constrained designs. The two parts are pin-compatible, allowing for future upgrades from 0.5W to 1W if needed. The DC/DC converters are also partially compatible with RECOM's higher-end R05CT05S specification, which includes features such as remote on/off switching and enhanced isolation.
Applications for both ranges include isolated power supplies for COM ports, gate drive power supplies, current sensing/smart metering, medical devices, industrial PLCs (I/O), and sensors for IoT/IIoT.
“These new CC/CC drives are a low-cost alternative when not all the features of our higher-specification SOIC-16 parts are required,” commented Matthew Dauterive, RECOM’s CC/CC product manager. “Even so, they are manufactured using the same automated process with advanced transformer manufacturing technology for maximum reliability in critical applications.”
